Man arrested after attacking Garda responding to a call that a car was on fire at New Campbell’s Bridge

A man has been arrested after a Garda was attacked in Cabra, Dublin, on Tuesday morning.

The Garda was responding to a call that a car was on fire at New Campbell’s Bridge in Cabra at 5.30am. When he arrived at the scene he was attacked by a man in his 30s who assaulted him with what is believed to be a bottle.

The Garda was taken to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown where he received a number of stitches to his leg. He has since been discharged from hospital.

The arrested man is being held at Finglas Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Investigations are continuing.
