A 29-year-old man has been refused bail after appearing before a special court sitting in Limerick charged in connection with a shooting on the south side of the city.
Ian Horgan who is originally from Cork but who has an address at Lenihan Avenue, Prospect, Limerick, appeared before a special sitting of Limerick District Court yesterday evening.
He is charged with possession of a shotgun with intent to cause serious injury to Sean Finnan (26) at his home at Byrne Avenue, Prospect, Limerick, on Thursday December 12th last.
It is alleged Mr Horgan and another man approached Mr Finnan’s home at around 9.30pm and discharged two shots.
The 26-year-old victim sustained more than 20 pellet wounds to his stomach and left hand and was treated at University Hospital, Limerick following the incident.
At the special court sitting Detective Garda Declan O’Halloran said Mr Horgan made no reply when he was formally charged at Roxboro Road garda station at 5.40pm.
Inspector Seamus Ruane said there was a Garda objection to a bail application which was made by solicitor Sarah Ryan who was assigned to represent Mr Horgan.
Judge Mary Larkin refused bail and remanded the defendant in custody until Tuesday December 17th.
