A woman was taken to hospital last night following an assault on Dublin’s O’Connell Street.

The 24-year-old was involved in an altercation between two groups of people at the junction of O’Connell Street and Sackville Place just after 8pm.

She is understood to have been kicked and beaten while lying on the ground.

She was later taken to the Mater Hospital where she was treated for her injuries before being released this morning.
