The IRFU and the FAI met with the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism, John O'Donoghue, this afternoon to discuss the proposed redevelopment of Lansdowne Road.

Delegates from both organisations told the Minister that the cost of developing the Dublin 4 venue into a 50,000 all-seater stadium would amount to €250 million and that both the IRFU and FAI would contribute one third of that total towards the project.

The delegation emphasised to the Minister the urgency of the situation and said the timetable for completion of the project, if approved, would be 2008.
