A number of Irish people were among those injured in yesterday's explosions in Bali, the Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed.

The Department also said that none of the injuries sustained by Irish people in the attack were said to be life threatening.

An Irish consular official from the Irish embassy in Singapore is travelling to Bali to assist the Irish people wounded in the incident.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr Cowen, strongly condemned the attack. "I deplore this senseless act of violence which has claimed so many lives. There can be no justification for murdering innocent people in this callous manner," he said.
