Equestrian:The Irish eventing squad competing at the World Equestrian Games in Lexington has been reduced by one following the withdrawal of Elizabeth Power's mount Kilpatrick River.
Horse Sport Ireland (HSI) has confirmed that Dermot O’Rourke’s Petardia gelding was lame following exercise in the Kentucky Horse Park on Monday. Kilpatrick River has since been treated but there was insufficient improvement in the injury and the decision has now been taken to withdraw the 12-year-old.
Ireland still has five eventing horses at the Games with four of these to compete as part of the team, the make-up of which will be decided by HSI’s high performance manager Ginny Elliot nearer to the competition which begins on Thursday next, September 30th.
