Irish Ferries services back as strike called off

Irish Ferries services have returned to normal after Siptu agreed yesterday to call off its strike by ships officers.

Irish Ferries services have returned to normal after Siptu agreed yesterday to call off its strike by ships officers.

The 9 a.m. sailing departed Dublin for Holyhead on time this morning, and the Pembroke-Rosslare sailing is on schedule to depart at 2 p.m., with the return sailing from Rosslare-Pembroke to depart at 9 p.m.

There are no sailings scheduled for France today.

The decision to end the dispute followed an intervention by the National Implementation Body, which recommended that the company and the union return to talks at the Labour Relations Commission (LRC).

The Siptu strike committee spent much of yesterday seeking clarification about aspects of the recommendation before announcing shortly after 6 p.m. that the strike was off.
