Former staff at Irish Glass Bottle company (IGB) have agreed to accept a revised redundancy plan following the closure of the plant in July.
Two previous redundancy offers were rejected by the 375 staff and a series of protests ensued including a national day of action supported by tens of thousands of workers.
The owners of IGB, Ardagh plc, had failed to comply with Labour Court recommendations that workers be paid five weeks' pay per year of service.
A ballot of staff on a packaged offering improved terms for workers with over 20 years' service was passed this evening by 120 to 88.
The settlement involves a complex formula that provides for an increased offer to those with service in excess of 20 years and, according SIPTU branch secretary Mr Gerry Lynch, includes a legally binding commitment for the payment of the redundancy package.
"I think our people have shown a lot of dignity and tenacity in this dispute and it [the settlement] allows them the to leave with the dignity all their years of service deserves," Mr Lynch said.
