Irish online insurance company opened

A new insurance initiative - insure

A new insurance initiative - insure.ie - that will enable consumers to access insurance quotes from insurance companies over the Internet has been announced in Dublin today.

Insure.ieis the brainchild of Dublin-based technology company MDC and the Mike Murphy Insurance Group.

"The Internet promised much in the DIY arena for customers who wanted independence of action to check out for themselves what's available, on what terms and from whom," said Mr Murphy Insurance at the launch of the site.

"Insurance seems like an obvious commodity for purchasing on-line," he said.

"Yes it has been done by insurer specific websites offering the Henry Ford solution. You can have any colour as long as it's black - you can have insurance cover from this insurance company only. Sorry but you'll have to shop around yourself for alternative possibilities,"

The new site has resolved the problem by building web access to the live rates and conditions for motor insurance cover from the five leading insurers in the Irish market: Allianz, AXA, Eagle Star, Hibernian, Royal & Sun Alliance

Home insurance rates are also available as is the Government-promoted Savings Scheme

"Our aim in insure.ie is to provide a complete quote and buy facility online for the personal needs of individuals which can be accessed 24 hours a day thereby enabling the customer to pick and choose at their own convenience," Mr Murphy said.
