CONOR POPEhas been appointed to the post of Consumer Affairs Correspondent. In addition to covering consumer-related issues, the role will focus in greater depth on personal finance and money.
He will continue to write and edit the Pricewatch section which appears on Mondays.
He presented the consumer-focused RTÉ television series Living Lightly. He has a degree in English and philosophy from NUIG, where he also completed a postgraduate journalism course.
He worked as a reporter with the Connacht Tribunebefore joining The Irish Timeswebsite in 1996, becoming one of the first journalists to work in an online news environment.
PAUL CULLENhas been appointed to the political staff of The Irish Times. He was formerly consumer affairs correspondent.
He joined the newspaper as education correspondent in 1993 and was appointed development correspondent in 1996. He reported from the planning tribunal for a number of years and worked as consumer affairs correspondent from 2007 to 2010.
Educated at Coláiste Éanna, Ballyroan, Dublin, TCD and DCU, he holds degrees in engineering and journalism. He is the author of books on Dublin, asylum seekers and refugees, and the planning tribunal.
