Czech police are continuing their inquiry into the cause of death of an Irish tourist who died in Prague on Sunday.

A spokesman for the Department of Foreign Affairs told ireland.comthis evening that the investigation into the cause and circumstances of surrounding death of a Kilkenny man Michael O'Leary (23), of Minauns, Callan, is ongoing.

He said the Department was in keeping up to date with developments in Prague and were in touch with the family of Mr O'Leary.

Mr O’Leary was chairman of the local farming organisation, Callan Macra na Feirme and was on a weekend away with 23 of the organisation's members.

Police were earlier reported to be investigating the possibility that Mr O'Leary's drink may have been spiked before he was attacked and robbed. Another Macra na Feirme member, Mr Padraig McNally, from the Paulstown branch of Macra, was also robbed.
