ITV Digital formally put up for sale

ITV Digital's administrators have confirmed they will sell the business and its assets.

ITV Digital's administrators have confirmed they will sell the business and its assets.

Deloitte & Touche has confirmed it has not been able to secure additional funding for ITV Digital on terms that would enable it to commit to a long-term sale.

Britain’s Independent Television Commission says it will revoke ITV Digital's licences and proceed to an accelerated re-tendering process if pay services cease to be broadcast.

The administrator is meeting ITV Digital's suppliers to discuss plans to continue providing services on a short-term basis whilst offers are invited.

Deloitte & Touhce states: "The aim of this process is to attempt to maximise the value of the assets on behalf of all of the company's creditors.

"It is likely that customers will continue to receive free-to-air services, at least in the short-term, whilst the sale process is concluded."

The ITC states: "The ITC regrets that the administrator is unable to secure funding for an orderly takeover of the ITV Digital business.

"We have informed him that at the point at which pay services cease to be broadcast and the business no longer fulfils the terms of its licences, we will put in train arrangements to revoke the licences and proceed to an accelerated re-tender," it says.
