Madrid - The former head of Spain's military intelligence has received a six-month jail sentence and has been suspended from the army for eight years for illegal phone-tapping. Lieut-Gen Emilio Alonso Manglano and one of his senior officers, Col Juan Alberto Perote, were found guilty of the "not constant, but habitual" interception of radio bands used for mobile phones and recording conversations.
