Nicosia - A Greek Cypriot fisherman jailed for infecting a British woman with the AIDS virus has been put in a cell with a prisoner suffering from hepatitis B. Pavlos Georgiou, who was jailed for 15 months this week by a court in Larnaca for knowingly passing the virus to Mrs Janette Pink, is now demanding that he be given a cell of his own. But authorities at Nicosia Central Prison, where 40-yearold Georgiou has been put in a wing for convicts with infectious diseases, have turned down his request.

They have refused despite fears that Georgiou's health may rapidly deteriorate because of his cellmate's highly contagious disease. - (PA)
