A drunken man who prevented Mass from starting on time was sentenced to six months in jail yesterday. Garda Derek O'Donoghue told Drogheda District Court that Mr Raymond McEntaggart, Park View, sat "very drunk" in front of a full congregation at the Francisan Church last October.

Judge Flann Brennan imposed another six-month sentence on hearing that the man was extremely drunk when gardai called to his girlfriend's house last November. On that occasion he had taken off all his clothes and burnt them.
