Tokyo - The Japanese Prime Minister, Mr Yoshiro Mori, will dissolve parliament's powerful Lower House on June 2nd and call an election for June 25th, according to senior officials of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP).

Mr Mori's sudden elevation to the post of prime minister last month came after his predecessor, Mr Keizo Obuchi, suffered a stroke.
