JERUSALEM - Israeli police detained several right wing Jewish activists who yesterday tried to force their way into Jerusalem's Temple Mount, site of Islam's third holiest shrine, a police spokesman said. Thousands of Jews meanwhile prayed at the Western Wall, which abuts the site, to observe the holy day marking the anniversary of the destruction of the ancient Jewish temples on the mount.
