Mr Jim Mitchell, Deputy leader of Fine Gael, last night issued the following statement:
I had no knowledge, of any kind whatsoever, of this or any similar contribution to Fine Gael, either by Denis O'Brien or Telenor, or by anyone else, directly or indirectly.
Neither was I aware of any discussions in relation to this or any related matter, at any stage.
The first I learned of these matters was yesterday when my attention was drawn to the article in the Sunday Tribune.
