Jordan technical director Eghbal Hamidy, who has officially been 'on holiday' since the start of the season, has left the Formula One team.

Jordan confirmed in a statement that Iranian-born Hamidy had left.

Yesterday, the team axed up to 40 jobs in a restructuring that has left some 15 per cent of the workforce redundant.

"This decision was reached amicably and neither party wished to make any further comment," the statement said.

Hamidy (41) joined Jordan from Arrows, where he was chief designer, at the end of 2000.

Jordan have yet to score a point after four races this season.
