Colombo - Sunday Times reporter Marie Colvin was being treated in hospital yesterday after being wounded during violent clashes in Sri Lanka.

Ms Colvin (44), a US citizen, suffered shrapnel wounds to the head, chest and arms after being caught in crossfire between government forces and Tamil Tigers.

She won the award for Best Foreign Correspondent in last month's British Press Awards.
