CHESTER - The jury in the Sophie Hook murder trial at Chester Crown Court was yesterday sent home for the night after failing to reach a verdict. The judge told jurors to reconvene this morning after they had spent more than four hours reviewing the evidence against the alleged murderer, Mr Howard Hughes.

Mr Hughes (31) denies raping Sophie (7) twice before strangling her and throwing her body into the sea in Llandudno, north Wales, on July 30th last year.
