Hamburg - Hamburg's tough new law-and-order minister, Mr Roland Schill, went on trial yesterday accused of unlawful imprisonment and abuse of power when he was a serving magistrate known as the "judge without mercy".
Mr Schill became the city-state's interior minister after his Law-and-Order Offensive Party won a remarkable 19 per cent of the vote in local polls in September, the party's first-ever election test.
