Dermot Keely has been confirmed as the new Derry City manager.
A move to the Brandywell was fuelled after he stepped down as Kildare County boss at the weekend.
Keely confirmed that decision on Kildare County's website: "I spent the whole weekend agonising over my decision and finally it came down to the fact that I will be able to reside in Donegal and also the chance to manage at the highest level."
"I have the greatest of respect for all at Kildare County and wish them all the best in the future and I am sure that they will replace me and continue to go from strength to strength."
Keely, the former Shelbourne, Shamrock Rovers, and Dundalk boss, takes over from Kevin McMahon who resigned last week.
His immediate task will be to get Derry out of the relegation zone. Derry are only one place ahead of the league's bottom club UCD.
Keely's first game in charge will be against Cobh Ramblers in the FAI Carlsberg Cup - a competition the Candystripes won last year.
