The stars - with haircuts to die for - come to view the paintings of Terry Bradley. Sinead O'Connor, Ronan Keating and his wife, Yvonne Connolly, Sheamus Smith, the film censor, and Frank Clarke, famous television artist, all arrive to party and to view the art work. All the men point to the brothers McAllister as the barbers responsible for their haircuts, as well as the gallery. These stylists-to-the-stars are now celebrating the opening of this, the city's newest art space, The Grafton Gallery, which is on the top floor of 51 Grafton Street. The party is held at Lillies Bordello.
The acclaimed film brothers Seamus and Brendan Deasy, are also here to lend their support. The McAllisters are well-known hairdressers on the sets of films such as How Harry Became a Tree, which is just completed.
The film connection continues as Hugh McAllister senior explains that the soon-to-be-released comedy film Ever Lasting Piece is based on his own experiences in Belfast with Colm McEvoy when they were travelling hair-piece salesmen in the 1960s. The barbers, Hugh McAllister junior and his brother, Conor McAllister, along with their business partner, photographer Neil Fraser, are delighted to be branching out, bringing art "at affordable prices" to the masses. Yes, they explain, the look tonight on today's dashing male is the "bed head" look.
Fashion-designers Anthony Brennan and Virginia Macari explain it as the "just-out-of-bed" look. These two are delighted that MTV and Channel 4 are coming to view work and feature their show in February.
