Tadgh Kennelly has been named in the Ireland panel for the upcoming International Rules series against Australia despite damaging ankle ligaments at the weekend.
Kennelly was taken off after falling awkwardly in a tussle for possession while playing for his Kerry club Listowel Emmet's on Saturday. He was taken to Tralee General Hospital as a precaution.
But Ireland manager John O'Keefe has named the former Kerry minor in his 26-man squad for the two Test series which gets underway at Croke Park on Sunday.
A number of players, including Paul Barden, Joe Bergin, Peter Burke and Ray Cosgrove, are included in the panel for the first time.
Paidí O'Se announced today he would be staying on as manager of the Kerry senior football team. Kerry were beaten by Armagh in last month's All-Ireland final.
