AS home secretary Mr Clarke was responsible for MI6 and signed two PII certificates

AS home secretary Mr Clarke was responsible for MI6 and signed two PII certificates. He told the inquiry that he felt if the evidence was disclosed "innocent lives" would be at risk.

However, the trial judge dismissed Mr Clarke's claims and insisted the documents must be disclosed to the defence. Although Mr Clarke has repeatedly stated he will resign if the Scott inquiry believes he was "at fault" in signing the PII certificates, he recently suggested that the final report will be as relevant as "an old bag of chips."
