Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny will also be working to highlight the plight of the undocumented Irish people during meetings with Irish American business leaders in the US this week.

Mr Kenny is due to visit a number of organisations working with Irish emigrants, including the Aishling Centre, the New York Irish Centre and the Emerald Isle Immigration Centre. As part of the visit, Mr Kenny will travel to the United Nations offices in New York for discussions on UN reform and Irish participation in peacekeeping operations.

On Thursday, he will meet Richard Haass, the President of the Council for Foreign Relations and former special envoy to Northern Ireland, to discuss recent developments in the peace process.
