Kerry advance after solid win

Kerry 3-15 Westmeath 0-13

Kerry 3-15 Westmeath 0-13

Kerry eased past Westmeath in the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship preliminary qualifiers in Nenagh this afternoon.

Second half goals from Shane Brick and Michael Slattery were enough to kill off a determined, but ultimately weaker, Westmeath side.

A Billy Brick goal and some well taken points from Slattery had given Kerry the advantage at half time, as they went in with a six point lead.

Slattery scored early in the second half before Michael Conway added good scores to keep Westmaeth at a distance, despite the best efforts of Andrew Mitchell and Paddy Dowdall who both contributed with good scores.

Brick's goal, Kerry's third, was the final nail in the coffin however and Kerry ran out winners by 3-15 to 0-13.
