The Kerry county board are seeking to have Saturday’s Munster football semi-final against Cork postponed after the sudden death of former county footballer Micheal O’Se.

The brother of Kerry coach Paidi O’Se and father of current footballers Tomás, Dara and Marc died at his home in Ventry this afternoon.

GAA president Sean McCague has expressed his shock and sadness at the death.

In a statement released today, he said: "All in the GAA are saddened at the untimely and early death of a great GAA man and the massive and grievous loss to a great sporting family."

He also expressed his condolences on behalf of the GAA to Micheál's wife Joan, to his son's Fergal, Dara, Tomás and Marc, to his brother Tom and mother Beatrice.

Kerry are due to play Cork in at Páirc Uí Chaoimh next Saturday, with a 3.30 p.m. throw-in. The Munster council have yet to announce whether the match will go-ahead as planned.
