Racing:This evening's meeting at Killarney has been cancelled due to waterlogging.
A heavy band of overnight rain left the situation untenable on the third day of their August festival.
Officials at the County Kerry venue have also called a further inspection at 7.30am on Friday morning to assess prospects for tomorrow evening’s meeting.
Cliff Noone, Irish Turf Club press officer, said: “The track received a hell of a lot of rain on Wednesday night and the chase track is saturated.
“As there were three chase races on the card, there was no way the meeting could go ahead.
“There are sunshine and showers forecast for the next 24 hours.
“There’s a fresh strip of ground to be raced on for Friday’s meeting, so they are hopeful of a positive outcome from the inspection.”
