Michael Kinane, whose hugely-successful five-year partnership with Aidan O'Brien comes to an end today, will ride as stable jockey to John Oxx next season.
Kinane (44) who will be crowned Irish champion for the 13th time at Leopardstown this afternoon, will take over from Johnny Murtagh as first rider to the Curragh handler.
"I will not be riding for Ballydoyle next season and I'm pleased to report I'll be riding as retained jockey for John Oxx. I will be stable jockey," Kinane told the Racing Post.
"I had an agreement with John for two seasons a while back and I've always looked on him as someone I would like to work with again. I'm greatly looking forward to riding for him once more and I'm eagerly looking forward to the start of next season."
Murtagh has had trouble with his weight in recent months after suffering an injury to his back at Royal Ascot. Those problems meant he would be unable to make a commitment to Oxx on his weight next season and he will instead ride as a freelance.
"The consequence was that we had to think about what we were going to do for next year and Mick Kinane became available at an opportune moment," Oxx said.
"He's in great shape and has had a fantastic year riding winners up and down the country for everybody. He's also been riding fantastically well."
Meanwhile, Jamie Spencer, who landed Classic success for O'Brien with Brian Boru in this year's St Leger, is relishing he prospect of taking over from Kinane at Ballydoyle.
"I'm looking forward to riding for Aidan O'Brien and all the staff there," he told the Racing Post. It will be good working for them and hopefully there will be a lot to look forward to."
