An Antrim man was jailed for life yesterday for a frenzied knife attack he cannot remember which left a teenager dead. Jailing John Smith (22), from Limetree Avenue, Lord Justice Nicholson described the murder of Leslie Davidson (18) in September last year as "brutal and horrible".

The Antrim Crown Court judge said the teenager was set upon as he walked home with his brother and two friends on September 27th outside Antrim town.

James Alexander Carson (18) of Greenview Place, Antrim, and Rodney Alan Bishop (18) of Umgall Road, Nutts Corner, who admitted Mr Davidson's manslaughter, are awaiting sentence.
