The emir of Kuwait has removed the crown prince as prime minister, issuing a decree today asking foreign minister Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah to form anew cabinet.

The decree is a landmark since the post of prime minister istraditionally held by the crown prince in the oil-rich Gulf Arabstate. Sheikh Sabah is also from the royal family.
