Washington - The La Nina global weather pattern, which has dumped record snowfall on some US states while spawning deadly winter tornadoes in others, looks set to remain in place through at least June, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said yesterday.

La Nina, the climatic opposite of the warm-water pattern El Nino, is cooler-than-normal sea-surface temperatures in the tropical Pacific Ocean that affects global weather patterns.
