Modern Pentathlon:Arthur Lanigan O'Keeffe has followed the lead of Ireland team-mate Natalya Coyle by claiming as a place in the final of the opening World Cup event in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The Kilkenny man becomes the first male Irish pentathlete to make it through to a World Cup final, coming through a strong field of 99 to take his place in tomorrow’s decider.

Lanigan O’Keeffe came 16th in the fencing section, and eighth in both the swim and combined run and shoot, finishing 40 points behind Chinese winner Jianli Guo in the B qualifying section.
