European rugby chiefs will hear an appeal by Castres tomorrow against a one-year ban imposed on the French club's player Ismaela Lassissi for biting.

European Rugby Cup (ERC) officials said on Wednesday that they had convened an appeals committee hearing in Dublin. Castres is appealing to the ERC against a decision taken by its disciplinary committee last Thursday.

It found the Ivory Coast flanker guilty of biting Munster prop Peter Clohessy during a European Cup game on January 13th.

Castres said Lassissi was subject to "racist and discriminatory comments" from Clohessy during the game but although the club initially cited the Irish player it withdrew the complaint during the hearing.

Both teams have qualified for the quarter-finals of the competition.
