The RTÉ Authority has expressed concern that the Government’s recommended licence fee increase of £14.50 will not be enough to maintain its current broadcasting standards.
Following a meeting of the Authority this morning, it said in a statement the increase would not achieve what the Government believed it would.
The Authority was concerned that the decision may not have taken account of up-to-date projections of RTÉ's commercial revenue in the current climate.
Further discussion on the report will take place at a meeting next Friday.
