Limerick 2-13 Wexford 0-7
Limerick booked their place in the Allianz National Football League Division Two final with a solid and deserved win over Wexford in front of a crowd of 5,000 in Portlaoise today.
Limerick's victory was built around a disciplined midfield performance that laid the foundation for the forward line to pick their points off with, at times, alarming ease.
Limerick raced in to a 0-5 to 0-1 lead after just 15 minutes and could have been further ahead had Stephen Kelly not missed a gilt-edged goal scoring chance.
Wexford's day then got irreparably worse when Colm Morris was the unfortunate recipient of a straight red card for an off-the-ball incident.
Limerick's second goal from Conor Mullane sent Wexford in at half time contemplating how to claw themselves back into a game in which they were trailing by 1-09 to 0-03.
The rot however, was not to be stopped, and Limerick though not as rampant as their first half performance, managed to extend their lead and win by 12 points, topping off the win with a second goal from John Galvin.
Limerick are now set to face Westmeath in Croke Park in the Division Two final.
