Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed Al Megrahi must serve at least 27 years in jail, three judges at the High Court in Glasgow ruled today.
The judgement was passed at a short hearing in Glasgow this morning.
The hearing is a consequence of the European Convention on Human Rights being incorporated into Scottish law in 2001, nine months after Al Megrahi was sentenced.
The legal change meant all existing and future lifers in Scotland must be told the length of the punishment part of their sentences.
The brief hearing before the three judges, who originally sentenced him at a Scottish court convened at Camp Zeist in The Netherlands, will be held at Court Number Three at the High Court in Glasgow's Saltmarket - the securest court in Scotland.
It is thought relatives of the victims from around the world would be in the court to hear the judgement.
