A prominent loyalist claimed today he was the target of a gun attack linked to in-fighting between rival paramilitary factions.

Mr Barry Bradbury escaped injury in the shooting in Lurgan, Co Armagh - the second in as many days connected to a feud between the Loyalist Volunteer Force and Ulster Volunteer Force.

Pensioners in three houses also had a lucky escape when stray bullets blasted into their homes, one shattering a window an elderly woman had been cleaning minutes earlier.

Mr Bradbury was getting out of his car in Donard Gardens on theMournview estate when the attack was mounted at 8.20 a.m. He has blamedthe LVF.

One masked man opened fire before escaping in a vehicle driven byanother man, Mr Bradbury claimed.

"One got out of the taxi and fired at least one shot towards me whenI was in the car,'' he said.

"I got out of the car and he followed up with another three or fourshots at me while I was crouched behind the car and I then made a runfor it and he fired off two more shots."
