The Central Fisheries Board plan proposes to:
Double angling contribution to GNP from £80 million to £150 million
Double associated employment from a current 3,750 to 7,000 in five years
Improve marketing of Irish angling abroad
Increase annual expenditure to £25 million, possibly through increased water rates and other income sources
Establish a co-ordinated water quality strategy
Establish a mobile emergency response unit for major fish kills
Streamline board responsibilities and improve services
