A pensioner is recovering from a vicious attack at his home by two men on Monday night.
The 73-year-old man was pulled to the ground and hit in the face with a torch. He received a cut to his upper lip and nose and, according to a garda spokesman, is very shocked.
He was watching television at his home in Birdhill, Co Tipperary, shortly after 10 p.m. when he heard a sound at the window.
When he went outside he was confronted by two men who were trying to gain entry to the house through a window. The attackers are described as in their early 30s and of stocky build. Killaloe gardai are investigating.
