Man aged 81 dies after fire

An elderly Louth man who died following a fire in his home in Ardee early yesterday has been named

An elderly Louth man who died following a fire in his home in Ardee early yesterday has been named. Mr Joseph Halpenny (81) was discovered by his son Patrick (57), with whom he lived at Philipstown.

Fire brigade units from Drogheda and Dunleer fought the blaze, which is believed to have originated in an open fire.
