A man died early yesterday after he was assaulted outside a pub on the Malahide Road in Dublin.

A man died early yesterday after he was assaulted outside a pub on the Malahide Road in Dublin.

Mr Eugene Flanagan (38), received a blow to the head during a row which started outside the premises shortly after midnight. He was rushed to Beaumont Hospital, where he died later in the evening.

A second man was injured and was taken to hospital but later discharged.

Gardai said the dead man had been a bystander and was not directly involved in the row.
