A 19-year-old unemployed Dublin man has been charged in Kilmainham District Court in connection with a series of crimes including failure to appear in court.
Mr Dane Fish was remanded in custody in Cloverhill Prison until Friday when he will appear again in the same court.
He faces three charges of burglary and handling stolen goods, including a laptop computer, a torch and a bag, under the Larceny Act 1916.
He is also charged with failing to appear in court on April 10th on a separate charge.
Mr Fish appeared in court yesterday dressed only in a Garda-issue white jumpsuit. His mother was also present for the brief hearing.
The court was told that when arrested Mr Fish gave his address as School Street Flats, Dublin.
This address is occupied by his aunt, who told gardaí her nephew stayed there on and off, but had not been there recently.
The court was told Mr Fish also supplied gardaí with an address at Nelson Street, Dublin, which is a hostel.
He had two door keys when arrested and gardaí found that neither of these matched the door of his aunt's flat.
Judge Bridget Reilly was told Mr Fish had failed to appear in court on April 10th and there was an order for a bench warrant to be made for his arrest. He gave his name when arrested as Dane Reid.
During the hearing, Mr Fish's mother identified herself from the public gallery and said: "I am his mother. His name is Dane Reid and his address is 28 Ashgrove, the Coombe."
She then left the courtroom.
Mr Fish's barrister, Mr Philip Fennell, told Judge Reilly that his mother's name was Reid and his father's name was Fish.
"His mother doesn't appreciate him using his father's name," he added.
Mr Fennell said his client had failed to appear in court on April 10th, but said he was in court on April 9th and there might have been a mix-up in dates.
Mr Fennell sought legal aid for Mr Fish, who, he said. was unemployed. He said he had been due to start a FÁS course this week, but that this was now in jeopardy.
Gardaí opposed bail for Mr Fish, and Judge Reilly remanded him in custody to Cloverhill Prison until Friday.
