Man charged in Limerick murder inquiry

A 25-year old man has been charged with the murder of Limerick pensioner Mr Joe O’Doherty.

A 25-year old man has been charged with the murder of Limerick pensioner Mr Joe O’Doherty.

Mr Darren Cunneen of 51 Clare Street in Limerick was remanded in custody until Thursday and granted free legal aid.

Presiding Judge Tom O’Donnell asked for an assessment of the defendant’s psychiatric health.

Mr O'Doherty (75) was found dead in his home at a Limerick sheltered housing scheme on Thursday morning.
