Man charged over jewellery raid

A third man has been charged in connection with an attempted armed robbery at a Jeweller's Shop on Dawson St last Friday.

A third man has been charged in connection with an attempted armed robbery at a Jeweller's Shop on Dawson St last Friday.

Glen Kavanagh (32) with an address at Oriel Street, Dublin, was charged with robbery under the Theft and Fraud Offences Act.

Three men, one of whom was armed with a sawn-off shotgun, burst into the shop on Dawson Street at 12.30pm.

A scuffle with staff and members of the public ensued, during which the gun was wrestled from the robbers and one of the raiders was seriously injured. He was later taken to St James’s Hospital.
