A man has appeared in court today charged with the murder of Gary Douch (21) in Mountjoy prison last year.
Stephen Egan (23) of Belcamp Crescent, Coolock, was charged with murdering Douch on August 1st 2006 at Dublin District Court this morning.
Douch from Tallaght, was beaten to death in a protection cell in the basement of the prison.
He had been placed in the cell two days previously after asking for protection.

Douch was found dead at 6.30am in the morning when prison officers opened the cell. A total of seven men had stayed in the cell overnight.
