The State is preparing more serious charges against a Galway man accused of assaulting an uncle who died following an incident at his home, Dublin District Court has been told. Mr Patrick McGreene (23) of Corrib Park and St Mary's Road, Galway, is charged with causing serious harm to Mr Tom Clisham (54) at Inverin on November 25th. Supt John Sugrue said forensic investigation was continuing and a file in respect of more serious charges would be ready within weeks.

Mr McGreene appeared in the Dublin court under the new Criminal Procedures Act which allows prisoners to be re manded at courts nearest their place of detention. l P O'Higgins, defending, complained there was still no indications of when a book of evidence would be ready and that his client had experienced delays in receiving medical treatment.
