An unemployed man appeared in court yesterday charged in connection with the alleged abduction of a 15-year-old girl in Derry's city cemetery last Sunday. Mr Conor Hugh McGinley (18), Cable Street, the Bogside, Derry, faces a total of five charges.
They include kidnapping, imprisoning and indecently assaulting the girl. He is further charged with the possession of a 7["] blade kitchen carving knife at the city cemetery and with threatening to kill the girl.
An RUC detective told the resident magistrate, Mrs Bernadette Kelly, that when charged with the offences, the defendant made no reply.
Mr McGinley was remanded in custody until February 3rd.
